Frequently Asked Questions
Who is Polysnifferous?
- Why do you use the name Polysnifferous? The name Polysnifferous arose out of a joke Noah made about not wanting to settle down with one "signature scent," but wanting to "date around" with many fragrances.
- Who is the perfumer behind the brand? Noah is the perfumer of all of the fragrances you find in the "Polysnifferous Originals" tab on this website. He learned the art of perfumery through self-study of perfumes and perfumery materials, by watching Youtube channels such as Sam Macer, and through the kindness of more senior indie perfumers who were willing to share their wisdom.
- Why are there other brands on this site? Are you distributors? You can see there are many other fragrances available on this site. We have lots of perfumer friends, and we are working collaboratively with several of them to help them grow their brands.
- What does Jamie do for Polysnifferous? Jamie works as Noah's creative director and muse... in other words, she keeps him from making perfumes that smell too weird for mass consumption and keeps him from going crazy with stress.
Shipping & Delivery
- How long will it take to receive my order? Because we are a small indie brand with a team of only 2 people, current standard processing takes 7-10 business days at most, followed by shipping times that vary by location. You can track your package using the USPS Tracking tool or the link in your confirmation email. We sometimes print the label days before we can pack the order, so be prepared for that.
- Will you combine multiple orders into one shipment? We can try to do so with some exceptions. We automate our systems whenever possible, and one automation is that all of the shipping labels are automatically printed, and it is very difficult to go back in and cancel multiple shipping labels in order to combine shipping. If you make multiple orders, it is at your own risk: we may or may not be able to combine orders depending on whether or not we catch those multiple orders. In the near future, when we. have a fulfillment center working with us, this will be impossible to accommodate. Thank you for your understanding.
- Do you ship internationally? Fragrances are considered "hazardous materials" due to alcohol content. Current costs for shipping them internationally are too high for our small business to sustain, so we recommend you use a third party shipper if you still wish to receive our fragrances.
- What if my perfume arrives damaged? If a bottle leaks or breaks, please contact us by email with your order information and photos of the damage so we can apply for insurance within 48 hours of receiving your bottle. We will always re-ship.. and we are grateful for your help in sending us photos of the damage so we can adjust shipping tactics.
Returns & Samples
- Can I return a perfume if I don’t like the scent? To maintain hygiene, we only accept returns on unused bottles. We highly recommend starting with a Discovery Set or travel size before committing to a full bottle. We do think that our scents are very mass appealing with good performance, so your chances of liking the scent are high, thank goodness!
- Do you offer samples? Yes! It is very difficult to keep sample sets in stock, but we do have them periodically. Please sign up to get an email notification when they are back in stock. Also, we always give a free sample anytime you make an order, so if there is something specific that you want, please add it into the notes when you make an order. We will try to accommodate that request whenever possible!
Product Integrity & Values
- Are your fragrances vegan and cruelty-free? Where we use traditional perfume ingredients such as musk, we will. always disclose. We do not test our fragrances on any animals, although we. have two wolf dogs who do not seem bothered at all by our perfumery lab. In fact, they enjoy lying in the lab to be near Noah while he is perfuming.
- Are your fragrances dupes or clones? Noah has learned the art of perfumery in part by taking formulas that are available for purchase online and doing interesting twists on the perfume. Most of his perfumes smell distinctly different from the perfume they are inspired by. His original curiosity was "Can I make a perfume that smells higher quality (in materials) and works for my nose?" Many designer and niche perfumes smell a bit too "safe" for him, which is why he has decided to play with the formulas to make them more interesting to his nose.
- Why are your costs so low? Are these perfumes cheap smelling? We love to create high quality perfumes at affordable prices because we are seeing a ridiculous rise in cost of perfume even over the short time we have been working in the industry. Our motto is "Polysnifferous is for the People!" Additionally, Noah likes to use more expensive materials than those that are called for the original formula as part of how he expresses himself.
PR (Gifting and working with influencers)
- Are you open to working with influencers? Unfortunately, at this time, we do not have the budget for gifting perfumes in campaigns. We are so appreciative of the interest, and hope that one day soon we will be able to participate in that way in the fragrance community!
